About Alison

With a degree in Kinesiology, Alison has a unique understanding of the body as an instrument and loves to align, tweak, strengthen and release unnecessary tensions. From her Masters degree in Opera, Alison discovered the joys of stage work and singing with orchestra. With almost two decades of university teaching and in a private studio setting, Alison has worked with all kinds of voices and delights in the exploration of new sounds.

Singing

Alison loves to sing. She often wakes up singing in the morning (much to the chagrin of her teenagers) and sings into the evenings with her vocalizing canine companion, Kona. Her Labradoodle is an ever present and welcoming presence in the studio.

Performance

She performs regularly with orchestra specializing in sacred Oratorio works. Her agile voice and sparkling effervescence makes her an engaging performer.

Collaborating

Bella Musica is another of her musical joys. Performing in a small chamber group across British Columbia with Calvin Dyck and Carmen Hollett brings her deep joy and fulfillment in collaborating with other musicians.

Versatility

Although technology is not her first language, Alison has recorded for many projects and has stretched herself out of the classical realm, to perform with bands.  This versatility makes her an upbeat and fun collaborator in projects of new and old music.
